Sowell

Quote-Of-The-Day from Thomas Sowell

“It is hard to read a newspaper, or watch a television newscast, without encountering someone who has come up with a new “solution” to society’s “problems.” Sometimes it seems as if there are more solutions than there are problems. On closer scrutiny, it turns out that many of today’s problems are a result of yesterday’s solutions.”

Thomas Sowell is a national treasure, the nation’s pre-eminent philosopher and interestingly, an ex-Marine NCO.

I advise everybody to buy all of his books all in one shot, then wall themselves with a good supply of good coffee, a comfortable chair, a good reading light and have one of the most enjoyable and informative two to three weeks ever.

Thinking of Dr. Sowell and his life one is reminded of another quote, this one from J.R.R. Tolkien (from memory) “…the old that are strong do not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost…”  Such should be said of all of us.
