Fox News online ran a piece today playing up the apparent contradiction of tens of thousands of Harley bikers in their leather, tattoos and helmets attending a solemn high mass in Rome by Pope Francis, being blessed by them and pledging to defend the unborn. Here’s the gist of it:
“There was something a bit incongruous about the Harley crowd — known for their “Freedom” motto, outlaw image and adventuresome spirit — taking part in a solemn papal Mass to commemorate a 1995 encyclical on the inviolability of human life.”
“Evangelium Vitae” is a roadmap of the church’s teaching against abortion, euthanasia and murder. Harley’s advertising for its 2013 bike collection reads “Live life on your own terms. More than 30 ways to defy the status quo.”
Doesn’t Fox understand that abortion is the status quo, especially in Europe, and that pledging to defend the unborn is one of the most the most anti-establishment, indeed revolutionary acts possible. God Bless Pope Francis and God Bless those bikers, together they may yet get Satan’s work undone and the unborn live.
