Belmont And Fishtown On Mother’s Day

Mother’s day on Facebook a woman whom I have known since childhood posted a grandmother’s tribute to her grandchildren with photos.  It seems in a single week one grandchild was Confirmed, one received First Communion and another was inducted in the Maidens of the Miraculous Medal.  The children were shown looking very proud of their accomplishments all nicely dressed in suits and ties and so on.

The next post in line was from a family I know as well.  It displayed photos of various cats claiming descent from their proud human mother.  Yuk, yuk, yuk.

If you ever needed proof of Charles Murray’s assertion that American society has divided into Belmont and Fishtown, there it is.

The tragedy is that the former was once dominant and today but a remnant.

Still wherever “… two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
